Langston University's 2nd Annual Homecoming Fashion and Talent Show took place Oct. 13 in the C.F. Gayles Gymnasium.

Students packed the house and waited in excitement as DJ XKal spinned a few classic hits and kept the crowd hype. As the lights dimmed, the crowed hushed and models Teaa Hopkins, Hannah Flippin and Cynthia Ajanwachukwu were the first to walk it out on the runway for the opening scene.

Throughout the fashion show, all 28 models were dressed to impress by six different stores/designers: Panopoly, styled by Whitney Liddell, Pac Sun, Chaos, 15 Caliber, Tiki's Dollhouse Collection, and Express. Sunni from Oklahoma City's 103.5 FM hosted the show and helped keep the crowd entertained by interviewing each designer as the scenes changed throughout the show.

The show would not have been possible without the help of Revyse Productions. Ran by CEO's Evan Hopkins and Frank Christian, Revyse is a local production team that produces fashion shows throughout the metro area. According to Hopkins, Revyse Productions has been on the scene for a year and have seen much success throughout each event they've produced,

Hopkins was pleased with the outcome throughout the evening

"Our goal was for the student body to get engaged and energized to what fashion really is and tonight we accomplished that," he said.

Where there's fashion there's talent and the talent show was definitely worth seeing. Langston's talent show kicked off soulfully with the smooth seductive sounds from Mario Mccottrell, who sang "Bedroom," a song composed and produced by Mario himself.

There were a total of 10 acts in the talent show and hosts Erik Reed, Javon Brame and Anthony Crawford kept the energy alive.

Shelby Joyner and Sherrard Curry had the most memorable performances of the evening. Joyner performed a melodic variety of neo-soul and R&B songs in one set. Curry and his dance crew consisting of Morgan Taylor, Ashley Mason, David Wright and Quansha Baker, shocked and awed the audience with their remake of Beyonce's "I Am Sasha Fierce" tour.

Curry and his dancers smoothly walked out on stage covered in gold cloths and what was behind those gold cloths was the unexpected. The music began and the cloths dropped, revealing the performers wearing black and silver studded bodysuits.

Curry, a junior broadcast journalism major from Chicago, Ill., felt the excitement as he took the stage.

"It's a rush for me to be on stage. It's like a mental high. I felt welcome from the audience," he said.

Langston's Activities Coordinator, Anthony Crawford, felt the talent show and the fashion show was a success.

"Everybody put their hard work into both shows and everybody had a great time. We received great feedback," he said.
