Freshmen were asked what they were most curious about at Langston University. The following are the top freshman Frequently Asked Questions.
Question #1 "What is going on in the café that is making people sick"?
Provided by Dawn Hendricks, food service director
Together, ARAMARK and Langston University have worked aggressively to transform the existing student cafeteria into an inviting and pleasant area that is conducive to the previous dining facility, while actively anticipating the completion of the Student Success Center. As a team, Langston University and ARAMARK have taken aggressive strides to make the transition of the cafeteria a highly suitable, pleasant and safe environment for all University students and guests.
While ARAMARK envisions that students exercise healthy safety and sanitation procedures, it is the responsibility of each individual to ensure that their hands are thoroughly washed BEFORE and AFTER each meal as to minimize the transfer of germs. Effective April 2009, ARAMARK has been aggressive in providing SANITIZE solution for all guests as a precautionary measure for effective hand cleaning.
To date, an average of 6% of total guests exercise this option as an additional measure of ensuring their hands are clean prior to eating, leaving an estimated average of 94% of students with higher risk of germ contamination.
To date, ARAMARK has not received any written confirmed cases or active investigation of food poisoning.
Question #2 "Why isn't the
student union done yet"?
Provided by Ruben Oliver, contract manager/director
The Student Union Renovation project has experienced two (2) major setbacks that have effected the original projected completion of project.
First, the project advertised for bid in 2007 with an estimated construction cost of $4.3 million. The successful company awarded the bid unfortunately did not meet insurance pre-requisites therefore causing the project to be re-bid and awarded some 6-8 months later causing the original projected completion date of April 2009 to be effected accordingly.
