The Langston Lion's Softball Team is now starting in its second year as a program, and already making progress. After only winning one game last season, hopes for the program to continue wasn't looking too good.

First year interim coach Crystal Kelso said, "The rest of the athletic department has had phenomenal seasons for the past few years and we hope that soon we'll be able to join them in their success."

This year, under the management of Kelso, the team has already won three games and competed against a non-conference opponent for the first time. The team was also able to travel and compete in its first tournament game.

The Lions attribute their progress to the new approach they have taken for the game.

"There are new players with new attitudes who want to win and know what it takes to win," Kelso said.

Also, the Lion's biggest change in the program came from the work ethic of the team.

"This year was the first year we had real practices where we had the chance to work on catching and hitting," Kelso said. "We also started practicing in the fall opposed to in the spring right before the season started."
