Special from the SID
Issue date: 5/6/09 Section: Sports
After finishing the 2008-2009 season with a 28-6 record and the Red River Athletic Conference Champions, the Lady Lions have signed two student-athletes who won't have to travel far from home.
Brandie Sandy and Danyel Moses, both of Perry, Okla., have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Lady Lions next season. Sandy will transfer to LU from Redlands Community College, while Moses joins the Lady Lions after beginning her career at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
"Both ladies are smart players," said head coach Jerome Willis. "Brandie will give us consistent outside shooting. She's very vocal and an overall smart player."
"Danyel is an all-around good athlete. She's a lefty that can score from the free throw line and in. She's physical and an excellent defender."
The Lady Lions, who only graduated three seniors, are gearing up for another national championship run. "This is just the beginning of a strong recruiting season. We still need a point.
