Goff is a senior elementary education major from Claremore, Okla. and a former Miss Black Langston University. On top of winning this Miss LU title, Goff walked away with four other awards: Student Choice, Rising Star, Miss Congeniality, and Interview. She has also earned an invitation to the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant that will be held later this year.
The Miss Langston University Scholarship Pageant is the most elite pageant on campus and the contestants must meet certain standards. Contestants must be highly articulate, talented, have concern for their critical issue, a great level of maturity, and should be punctual. Goff feels that she has met these requirements and is prepared to represent the university to the best of her ability.
"I've participated in many different organizations on the campus, I enjoy speaking, and definitely my experience as Miss Black Langston University has put me in networking positions with alumni that I can work with as well," Goff said.
Goff is a member of several organizations on the campus, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Order of the Eastern Star, Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society for educators, and the Langston University Marching Pride Band Dance Line.
Goff says that she hopes that the population of the university and surrounding
community will perceive her as what she believes Miss Langston University should be: a well-rounded student.
Goff believes that many incoming students aren't able to read on a collegiate level. She hopes the platform she plans to implement, 'Reading is 'FUN'damental' will help increase students' reading and comprehension skills.
"My platform focuses on making it more interesting to read and having more activities that involve reading," she said.
As Goff balances her hectic but fulfilling life, she is also in the midst of planning several activities.
"I plan to host a pageant workshop with pageant participants and future pageant participants within the next month. I am currently working with the Guthrie YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. This program is a fundraiser for community families and youth to participate at the YMCA when they are unable to afford membership or classes. I will be holding a 'Battle of the Sexes Race' for donations toward this effort in the student union next week," Goff said.
She also plans to publish a book, "A Home for Lily," that will teach children to appreciate what they have been given in life.
Goff is passionate about making a difference on campus and hopes the student body will show their support by attending the activities and workshops she will hosts this semester.
