Members of the Langston University Marching Pride Band (LUMP) remain a family despite the suspension of their director Albert Jackson, who has led the band for almost 17 years.
According to the university officials, Jackson is being investigated for misappropriating school funds, and was placed on administrative leave without pay in January.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. To help prevent Langston students from being added to this sobering statistic, David Threatt of Oklahoma City presented "The Truth about Suicide on College Campuses" March 1 in the Black Heritage Center.

The "Totally You: The College Experience" Health Fair will be March 10 in the C.F. Gayles Gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Nina Johnson, a prevention coordinator for Guiding Right, Inc., an organization that educates people about sexually transmitted diseases, said the health fair will raise awareness about the effect of HIV/AIDS among African American young women.
