Leona Mitchell to headline holiday concert

An internationally acclaimed opera singer will headline Langston University's 25th Annual President's Holiday Concert. Leona Mitchell will take the stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, in Langston University's C.F. Gayles Gymnasium. Admission is free to the general public.

Suicide Prevention

A suicide prevention class took place Nov. 18 at the Presbyterian Church in Edmond, Okla. to give people the opportunity to help save lives. Rev. Mitchell Miller, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, said he opened the doors of the church because he felt this class was an excellent opportunity for people to learn about suicide prevention.

Deltas crown new Mr. Debonair and Miss Jabberwock

On Nov. 19, Langston students received "A Taste of the Harlem Renaissance" during Delta Sigma Theta's annual Mr. Debonair & Miss Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant. Tevin Jones and Danielle Skinner walked away as the new 2009-2010 Mr. Debonair and Miss Jabberwock.

WORLD AIDS DAY, 2009

WORLD AIDS DAY was first commemorated on December 1, 1988, after a summit of health ministers from around the world realized the need for a more extensive global exchange of HIV/AIDS information. The purpose of World AIDS Day is to reinforce the effort that is required to address the global challenges of the AIDS pandemic.

Radio personalities bring songs, laughter and different perspectives

It's Monday; you're just waking up and as you struggle to pull yourself together, you reach over to play your favorite CD. But instead, you flip the dial to KALU 89.3 FM, Langston University's own campus radio station, and you hear your classmate on the air hitting you with your favorite morning song.

Kappa's Guide Right

Langston University's Early Childhood Laboratory was filled with laughter as the Alpha Pi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi (Kappas) played a lively game of musical chairs with their students as a part of the organization's Guide Right program. The event was headed by Dominique Wilder, a junior biology major.

Music Education Day celebrates LU's talent

The music department hosted Music Dedication Day last week that featured some of the best musicians from the department. Sasha Watts, the current Miss Langston, was the host of the event. Watts, a member of the L.U. Marching Pride Band, based the event off of her platform, which is music.

Student Union should be ready in the spring, officials say

Are you tired of eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the multi? Tired of loud construction workers blasting your ear drums throughout the day? Well say no more, because the opening of the Student Union is around the corner. The union is expected to open late December, according to Ruben Oliver, contract manager for Langston's Physical Plant Services.

Omegas honor member's achievements

The members of the Phi Psi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the organization's graduate chapter, Upsilon Iota, capped off their Achievement Week celebration Nov. 20 with a Founder's Day program. The program took place in the atrium to honor fraternity members for the hard work they have shown in the community and within the organization.
