Even when clear to the naked eye, the water supplied to the residents of Langston smells very chlorinated. For more than a week during the month of October the drinking water was distinctly brown in color, and many residents of The Langston Commons voiced their concerns regarding the quality of the drinking water.

The Langston University NAACP (LUNAACP) is coordinating STOP Campaign Week Nov. 5-9 as part of the NAACP's Youth and College initiative that seeks to "STOP" the demeaning images of African-Americans in the media, particularly with respect to the portrayal of African-American women.
