Officials from across the state of Oklahoma heaped accolades upon Dr. JoAnn W. Haysbert as she formally accepted her position as Langston University's 15th and first female president at her inauguration on Saturday.
Haysbert is also the first African-American female to be president of a university in the state of Oklahoma.

Anger management group counseling sessions are currently being offered at the Professional Counseling Center. The sessions help students handle anger in a non-aggressive way using assertiveness-not aggressiveness-as a decent alternative to handling situations when people get angry.

Those of you not familiar with its history to dear Langston may ask, "Chapy, what is so special and magical about a place called "Kingstree" that you would devout an article to it?"
Kingstree is the county seat and largest town in Williamsburg County.

Students learned how to eat healthy by following the food pyramid during an event hosted by the Beta Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Sept. 28.
Demetria Morrison, who organized the event, said the purpose was for students to know about health because the majority of faculty and students do not eat right.

The Student Cultural Empowerment Organization (S.C.E.O.) and the English department gave students an opportunity to express their creativity through a spoken word competition Sept. 29 in the Scholars' Inn clubhouse.
Seven contestants performed original material on various social issues that entertained the nearly 60 people who were in attendance.
