Forced move from dorms to apartments irritates students

Residents in Young and Brown Hall are being forced to relocate to Centennial Court and Scholars' Inn apartments so that the university can remain in compliance with its bond covenants-agreements the university made to secure funding to build the facilities.

Officials from across the state of Oklahoma heaped accolades upon Dr. JoAnn W. Haysbert as she formally accepted her position as Langston University's 15th and first female president at her inauguration on Saturday. Haysbert is also the first African-American female to be president of a university in the state of Oklahoma.

Counseling sessions helps students control anger

Anger management group counseling sessions are currently being offered at the Professional Counseling Center. The sessions help students handle anger in a non-aggressive way using assertiveness-not aggressiveness-as a decent alternative to handling situations when people get angry.

Delta event helps students eat healthier

Students learned how to eat healthy by following the food pyramid during an event hosted by the Beta Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Sept. 28. Demetria Morrison, who organized the event, said the purpose was for students to know about health because the majority of faculty and students do not eat right.

Wednesday, October 4 Signups for the homecoming talent show will be in the Student Union Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today until Oct. 13. The talent show will take place on Oct. 24. An activities committee meeting will take place in the SGA office on Wednesday, October 4 at 6:30 p.

Students showcase creativity through spoken word

The Student Cultural Empowerment Organization (S.C.E.O.) and the English department gave students an opportunity to express their creativity through a spoken word competition Sept. 29 in the Scholars' Inn clubhouse. Seven contestants performed original material on various social issues that entertained the nearly 60 people who were in attendance.
