As enrollment rolls on at the UA, students, faculty and staff give mixed reviews of the Web site Ratemyprofessors.com and its effectiveness as a registration and class selection tool.

The site creates listings of professors by campus and then by department, and professors are rated by reviewers, usually students, in four categories: easiness, helpfulness, clarity and rater interest, on a scale from one to five.

Fulbright College starts three-year process to change core curriculum

The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences has begun a three-year process to reconsider its core curriculum.

In preparation for the change, a Fulbright College Core Curriculum Reform Committee has been started. There are 16 members on the committee, with one member being a graduate student and two being undergraduates.

Leonids meteors shower on Denton

For the past three evenings, skies over much of Denton showcased an annual phenomenon known as the Leonids meteor shower.

An NT researcher said that just before sunrise tended to be the best viewing time, but meteors were visible all night streaming from the constellation Leo.

Student Government Association President Jeff Riles issued the first-ever executive veto of a Student Senate-sponsored bill Tuesday, Nov. 11.

President Riles announced his decision in an internal e-mail sent to members of the SGA.

The bill vetoed, Senate Bill 016, which authorized about $2,300 to four members of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity for a trip to Washington, D.C.

Community members protested Arkansas Initiative Act No. 1 and California's Proposition 8 in a peaceful demonstration Saturday.

Some of the group met in front of the Arkansas Union and marched to City Hall, where the main event took place at 12:30 p.m. After that, the protesters marched to the corner of Dickson Street and College Avenue, where the protest continued until it was concluded back at the UA campus.

Officer Bill Hall responded to the incident at about 4 p.m. south of the intersection of Northwest 27th Street and Kentucky Ave.

"We had a student step out in front of a moving car and it knocked her to the pavement," he said.

NT drug testing records show that five student athletes from various teams tested positive in addition to the 15 football players whose positive results made recent headlines.

Information acquired through Texas Open Records Act shows that the NT compliance and training departments tested nine student athletes involved in six other sports this semester.
